1867 - Born on the 18th of January in Metapa, Nicaragua. Nicaragua's greatest poet and one of the greatest of all Spanish language poets.
1870-1879 - Dario began reading poems at the age of 3 and at 12 he was already publishing poems.
- He called his 3 poems La Fe, Una Lagrima, El Desengano.
1880 - Wrote the poem Azul.
1882 - To secure a scholarship in Europe, he read his poem, El Libro to conservative Nicaraguan authorities including President Joaquin Zavala. He was denied because they find it too liberal and anti-religious.
1890 - Married to Rafaela Contreras.
1893 - Appointed consulate in Columbia and traveled to Panama and Argentina.
1896-1905 - Wrote the poems, Prosas profanas y otros poemas and Cantos de vida y esperanza.
1914 - Honored in New York with a silver medal from Hispanic Society of America.
1916 - Died on 6th of February in Leon, Nicaragua.
