1834 - Hart Pease Danks was born on the 6th of April in New Haven, Connecticut.
1842 - Moved with his family to Saratoga Springs, New York when he was aged eight.
Studied music with Dr. E. Whiting, later moving to Chicago, where he worked as a carpenter.
1864 - He moved to New York City.
1892 - Published his Superior Anthems for Church Choirs.
1893 - He published his best-known song, "Silver Threads Among the Gold".
1903 - Died destitute in a boarding house in Philadelphia, on the 6th of April, his last written words: "It's hard to die alone".
1970 - Hart Pease Danks was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.
