1562? - Daniel was born near Taunton in Somerset, the son of a music-master.

 

1579 - Admitted to Magdalen Hall at Oxford University.

 

1592 - Wrote cycle of sonnets to Delia and the romance called "The Complaint of Rosamond".

 

1595 - Wrote poem "A History of the Civil Wars between York and Lancaster".

 

1599-1619 - Unofficial British poet laureate.

 

1602 - Wrote "Defence of Ryme".

 

1603 - He was appointed master of the queen's revels.

 

1612 - Daniel published a prose History of England.

 

1619 - Daniel died near Devizes in Wiltshire on 14th of October.
