1562? – Daniel was born near Taunton in Somerset, the son of a music-master.


1579 – Admitted to Magdalen Hall at Oxford University.


1592 – Wrote cycle of sonnets to Delia and the romance called "The Complaint of Rosamond".


1595 – Wrote poem "A History of the Civil Wars between York and Lancaster".


1599-1619 – Unofficial British poet laureate.


1602 – Wrote "Defence of Ryme".


1603 – He was appointed master of the queen’s revels.


1612 – Daniel published a prose History of England.


1619 – Daniel died near Devizes in Wiltshire on 14th of October.
