1930 - Born on the 20th of July in St. Marys, Pennsylvania. He is famous for coaching the Detroit Pistons for nine years, winning consecutive NBA championships in 1989 and 1990, and for coaching the gold medal-winning basketball Dream Team in the 1992 Summer Olympics.

 

1948-1949 - He played college basketball at St. Bonaventure University.

 

1949-1952 - Played basketball at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

 

1955-1963 - He coached Punxsutawney Pennsylvania.

 

1963-1969 - Served as assistant coach at Duke University.

 

1969-1971 - Became head coach at Boston College.

 

1981-1982 - Coach of Cleveland Cavaliers.

 

1983-1992 - He was the coach of Detroit Pistons.

 

1992-1994 - Became the coach of New Jersey Nets.

 

1994 - He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame on the 9th of May.

 

1997 - Selected as one of the NBA's "Ten Greatest Coaches".
