1966 - Martin Luther King, Jr. confronted the Daley machine when King attempted to take the Civil Rights Movement.
1968 - Castigated for his sharp rhetoric in the aftermath of rioting that took place after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination.
1972 - Democratic nominee George McGovern threw Daley out of the Democratic National Convention.
1976 - On 20th of December, he suffered a massive heart attack while visiting his doctor's office and died at the age of 74.
