1902 - Born in Chicago's South Side near the stockyards on the 15th of May.

 

1953 - Served as Chairman of the Cook County Democratic Central Committee.

 

1955-1976 - Elected mayor of Chicago.

 

1933 - Daley took night classes at DePaul University College of Law to earn a Juris Doctor.

 

1936 - Married Eleanor "Sis" Guilfoyle on 17th of June.

 

1966 - Martin Luther King, Jr. confronted the Daley machine when King attempted to take the Civil Rights Movement.

 

1968 - Castigated for his sharp rhetoric in the aftermath of rioting that took place after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination.

 

1972 - Democratic nominee George McGovern threw Daley out of the Democratic National Convention.

 

1976 - On 20th of December, he suffered a massive heart attack while visiting his doctor's office and died at the age of 74.
