Italian adventurer, author, and soldier
1863 - Born in Pescara (Abruzzo), on the 12th of March, to Francesco Rapagnetta a wealthy landowner and mayor of the town, to which he legally added d'Annunzio.
1879 - Published his first poetry at the age of 16 with a small volume of verses called Primo Vere.
1881 - He entered the University of Rome La Sapienza, where he became a member of Cronaca Bizantina.
1882 - In Rome La Sapienza, he published "Canto novo", "Terra vergine".
1883 - Married Maria Hardouin di Gallese, and had three sons, but the marriage ended in 1891.
1894 - He began a love affair with the famous actress Eleonora Duse that became a cause célèbre.
1897 - Elected to the Chamber of Deputies for a three-year term, where he sat as an independent.
1910 - His daredevil lifestyle had forced him into debt.
1919 - He was captured Fiume.
1924 - He was created Prince of Monte Nevoso.
1937 - Became the president of the Italian Royal Academy.
1938 - D'Annunzio died on 1st of March because of a stroke at his home in Gardone Riviera.
