D'Alton, John Francis

1882 – Born in Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland, on the 11th of October, at the height of the Land Wars in Ireland.


1908 – He was ordained Catholic priest on 18th of April.


1942 – D’Alton become Coadjutor Bishop of Meath on 25th of April.


1943-1946 – On 16th June, he became Catholic bishop of Meath.


1946 – He transferred to become Catholic archbishop of Armagh on 13th of June.


1953 – Archbishop D’Alton was raised to the cardinalate on 12th of January.


1963 – D’Alton died in Ara Coeli, the residence of the Archbishop of Armagh, on 1st of February.
