1973 - His parents divorced during his youth and his grandfather, who was a Pentecostal preacher, died when he was twelve years old.
1978 – He was a part of Russell, Kentucky's first state championship high school football team.
1990 – He signed to Mercury Records after moving to Los Angeles alone.
1993 – He was scheduled to perform for Queen Elizabeth II. He failed to render a performance due to family reasons.
1999 – He starred in the independent film Radical Jack.
2001 – He played the lead role on the PAX (now ION Television) comedy-drama Doc. Doc became the highest-rated show on the network.
2003 – He has had some success as a gospel singer with his album The Other Side.
2005 – He expanded his acting career in a stage production of Annie Get Your Gun in Toronto, as the role of Frank Butler.
2006 - His most recent album, released in July of this year, is “Wanna Be Your Joe”.
2007 – He is a part of Dancing with the Stars for season 4. The show first aired on March 19 of this year.
