1903 - Born in Louisville, Kentuky on the 30th of May.
1922 - He went to New York University.
1923 - After publishing poetry in The Crisis, under W. E. B. Du Bois, and Opportunity, of the National Urban League.
1926 - Went to Harvard University to complete a master's degree.
1928 - He married Yolanda Du Bois, daughter of W.E.B. Du Bois, in a prominent celebration.
1930 - He was divorced by his wife after he told her that he was sexually attracted to men.
1946 - He died on the 9th of January in New York.
