1945 – She was born on the 29th day of July this year in South Euclid, Ohio. She received a BA from Hiram College, and later, an MA from George Mason University.

 

1979 – She moved to England with her two kids (Rob and Karin) and husband named Lyle Riggs who is headmaster of The Pennington School in Pennington.

 

1995 – She is a winner of the Newbery Medal and the Newbery Honor which is a literary award given by the Association for Library Service to Children.

 

2002 – She received an award from Carnegie Award for her book “Ruby Holler”.

 

2003 – Her book “Granny Torelli Makes Soup” was published this year. She now lives in Surrey, England. During the summer she spends her time on Lake Chautauqua in western New York State while visiting her grown children.
