1826 - Carlo Collodi was born in Florence on the 24th of November.
1848- He served as a volunteer with the Tuscan army during the Wars of Independence.
1850 - He begun to have a variety of both fiction and non-fiction books published.
1856 - He won fame with his novel In vapore and begun intense activity on ther political newspapers such as II Fantulla. He was employed by the Censorship Commission for the Theatre.
1860 - He served again as a volunteer with the Tuscan army during the Wars of Independence.
1875 - He entered the domain of children's literature with Racconti delle fate.
1876 - He wrote Giannettino, the Minuzzolo, and Il viaggio per l'Italia di Giannettino, a series which explored the re-unification of Italy through the ironic thoughts and actions of the character Giannettino.
1880 - He began writing Storia di un burattino which was published weekly in Il Giornale dei Bambini.
1881 - He sent to a friend a short episode in the life of a wooden puppet, wondering whether the editor would be interested in publishing this "bit of foolishness" in his children's section.
1890 - He died in San Miniato al Monte, Florence on the 26th of October.
