1792 – Clark joined the United States army.


1795 – Lewis joined a rifle company where he met Clark for the first time.


         – Clark left the army.


1803 – Clark got Lewis’s letter asking him to join the journey.


1804 – The explorers reached what is now Yank, South Dakoda.


         – The explorers hired a lady named Sacagawea.


1805 – The men found a new animal to science, the pronghornantelope.


         – The explorers reached the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean.


1806 – The explorers reached St. Louis.
