Georgia Neese Clark Gray (Clark Georgia)
1898 - Born on the 27th of January, Richland Kansas. 1921 - She graduated from Washburn University and was a member of Alpha Phi. 1921-1931 - Gray pursured an acting career, living in New York City, getting to know Helen Hayes and Charlie Chaplin, touring the country and earning $500 a week. 1935 - Gray started working at her father's Richland State Bank as an assistant cashier. 1936 - She was active in the state Democratic Party and was elected Democratic National Committee member from Kansas. 1949-1953 - Her nomination as the first woman to be Treasurer of the United States. 1995 - Died on the 26th of October and is interred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Monmouth Twp., Shawnee County, Kansas just southeast of Topeka.Page last updated: 3:32am, 26 |
