1943 - Born on October 8th in Woodstock, New York as Cornelius Crane Chase. His Father is Ned Chase, who worked at the New Yorker and remained a prominent figure in publishing for many years. His mother, Cathalene, was a heiress to a New England plumbing magnate's fortune.

1947 - When her was 4 years old his parents divorced and his father remarried into the FOLGER coffee fortune.

1967 - Graduated from Bard College, where he dated actress Blythe Danner.

1971 - He was a regular on The Great American Dream Machine, a short-running and long-forgotten sketch comedy show.

1975 - He was the first member of the original "Saturday Night Live" cast to leave the show - after only one season, a decision he later said he regretted. He was replaced by Bill Murray.

1976-1980 - Married and divorced, Jacqueline Carlin.

1981 - Was nearly killed (electrocuted) during the filming of Modern Problems when, during the sequence in which he is wearing "landing lights" as he dreams that he is an airplane, the current in the lights short-circuited through his arm, back, and neck muscles that caused him to experience a period of deep depression.

1982 - Married, Jaynie Luke on March 16th and they had three daughters.

1992-1994 - His career has generally worsened throughout the nineties, starring in flops such as the wholly mediocre Memoirs of an Invisible Man and Cops and Robbersons.

1995 - He was convicted due to drunk driving.

1996 - Winner of Harvard Lampoon Lifetime Achievement Award.

2002 - Roasted into the New York Friar's Club on September 28th.

2003 - He appeared in two television commercials for Cola Turka, a soft drink developed to be in direct competition with both Coca-Cola and Pepsi, while keeping the money in the Turkish economy.

2004 - Helped campaign for John Kerry in the Presidential Election.

         - Chase was widely scolded for his performance as host of the People for the American Way awards ceremony at the Kennedy Center.
