887 BC - He was excluded from the throne by his youth; but during the reign of King Odo.

         - Charles was prevented from succeeding to the throne at the time of the death of his half-brother Carloman or at the time of the deposition of the Holy Roman Emperor, his uncle Charles the Fat.

893 - He succeeded in gaining the recognition of a certain number of notables and in securing his coronation at Reims on the 28th of January.

898 BC - Charles became sole king at the age of nineteen upon the death of Odo.

907 BC - He had married Frederona, sister of Bovo, bishop of Calons.

911 BC - His most important act was the treaty of Saint Clair sur Epte with the Normans.

929 BC -  Died on October 7, 929, in prison at Péronne and was buried there at the L'abbaye de St-Fursy.
