1920 – Born on the 21st of May in London.

1952 – He was on the staff of the Oxford Classical Dictionary before beginning a Classics lectureship at Cambridge.

1958 – Chadwick became the figurehead of the Linear B work, writing the accessible popular book The Decipherment of Linear B.

1978 – Revising Documents in Mycenean Greek.

1984 – He retired, by which time he had become the Perceval Maitland Laurence Reader in Classics at Cambridge.

1998 – Died on the 24th of November.
