1863 – Born on July 31st in Pleasant Hill, Alabama. American politician.

1911 – Moved to Florida and Catts entered into politics.

1916 – He ran for Governor on a platform that attacked Catholics, liberals, immigration policies, and taxes.

1917 – He ran as the Prohibition candidate and was elected as Florida’s twenty-second Governor.

         – His term of office was a constant struggle with the Democratic Party that controlled the state legislature and many of his plans to drain the Everglades and redistribute the state’s wealth were judged radical.

1920-1929 – He was defeated for a second term and accused of counterfeiting.

         – He left politics upon his acquittal.

1936 – Died on March 9th in De Funiak Springs, Florida.
