Cattell, James McKeen
1860 - Born on May 25th in Easton, Pennsylvania. American psychologist who oriented U.S. psychology toward use of objective experimental methods, mental testing, and application of psychology to the fields of education, business, industry, and advertising.
1880 - Earned his Bachelor's degree at Lafayette College.
1882 - He earned a fellowship to Johns Hopkins University.
1886 - Cattell received his Ph.D. from Wundt.
1887 - Cattell was the first professor of psychology in the world at the University of Pennsylvania.
1891 - He was a Professor of Psychology and Head of Department at Columbia University.
1894 - He co-founded journal "Psychological Review".
1902 - He was then elected President of the NYAS, for his great strides in furthering the sciences.
1917 - Cattell was dismissed from Columbia for writing letters to Congress against the practice of sending draftees into combat in WWI.
- He was dismissed because he wrote these letters on college stationery. He sued the college, and was awarded compensation.
1924 - Became President of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences.
1944 - Died on January 20th.
