Cassini, Oleg Loiewski
1913 - Born on April 11th in Paris. American fashion designer.
1936 - Raised in Italy, he came to the United States.
1938 - Married to Merry Fahrney on September 2nd.
1940 - He designed costumes for Twentieth-Century Fox and other Hollywood studios.
1941 - Married to Gene Tierney on June 1st.
1942 - He became a naturalized American citizen.
1950 - His own label was predicated on "an incredibly hourglass, body-revealing, high-impact, one might go so far as to say quite sexually charged clothing", said Hamish Bowles, the European editor at large for Vogue magazine.
1960 - He became the official designer to Jacqueline Kennedy, the wife of President Kennedy, creating the "Camelot" look that became synonymous with well-crafted style.
1971 - Married to Marianne Nestor.
1987 - Wrote his memoir, In My Own Fashion: An Autobiography.
2001 - Mr. Bowles showcased many of Mr. Cassini's designs as the curator of "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years," at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
2006 - Died from complications of a stroke on March 17th in Manhasset, New York.
