– He was named professor of law at Université Laval two years later.
1885 – He was named to the legal team representing the Crown in the trial of Louis Riel.
1886 – He was elected for Quebec County and for Montmorency.
1891-1892 – He was attorney general in the provincial cabinet.
1896-1904 – He represented Montmorency as a Conservative Member of Parliament in the Canadian House of Commons.
1914 – He served as Postmaster General.
1916 – He died on the 29th of December.
