Carrasquilla, Tomas (Tomas)

1858 - He was born on the 17th of January in Santo Domingo, Antioquia, Colombian.

         - He began his writing career when his law studies at the Universidad de Antioquia were interrupted by one of many civil wars in 19th-century Colombia.

         - Colombian novelist and short-story writer who is best remembered for his realistic depiction of the people of his native Antioquia.

         - His portrayal of the daily life and customs of the Antioqueños, in a simple and direct style, reflects his love of his land and its people and a deep understanding of their problems and Carrasquilla, Tomás.

1936 - He became blind in his later years but he managed to complete what some critics believe to be his best work, his autobiography, Hace tiempos, through dictation.

1940 - He died on the 19th of December in Medellín.
