1748 – Born on October 7th in Stockholm. King of Sweden and first king of the union of Sweden and Norway.

1759 – He married his cousin Hedwig Elizabeth Charlotte of Holstein-Gottorp.

1772 – He co-operated in the revolutionary plans of his brother Gustavus III.

1788 – He was created duke of Södermanland by his elder brother, King Gustav III, and later served as admiral of the fleet during the Russo-Swedish War.

1792 – On the death of his brother, he became regent for his nephew, Gustavus IV.

1814 – Charles became the first king of Sweden and Norway.

1818 – Died on February 5th in Stockholm.
