1835 - He was born in Valdicastello on the 27th of July.

1856 - He received his Ph.D. from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and began teaching school.

1859 - He married Elvira Menicucci, and they had four children.

         - He wrote San Marino national anthem.

1906 - He was the first Italian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

1907 - He died in Bologna at the age of 71 on the 16th of February.
