1916 – Born on the 1st of January, he was an important pioneer in the field of magnetic recording.

1930 – He developed his first basic wire recorder.

1940 – Received a Bachelor of Science from Armour Institute of Technology.

         – Merged with Lewis Institute and became Illinois Institute of Technology.

1942 – Finished his Master of Science from the same institution.

1944 – Invented modern form of magnetic tape recording.

1968 – Illinois Institute of Technology awarded him an honorary doctorate.

1995 – Died on 23rd of June.
