1981 – At age 19, he was selected at fullback for the Australian under 21 side.


1991 – Voted player of the tournament at the Rugby World Cup.


1996 – Became the first Australian rugby player to play 100 Tests.


1997 – Campese was inducted into the Sports Australia Hall of Fame.


2000 – Received a Centenary Medal.


2001 – Awarded an Australia Sports Medal in recognition of his tremendous achievements and contributions to sport.


2002 – Honored a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
