1955 - Born in Tyler, Texas, on the 29th of March, the sixth of eleven children of Ann and B.C. Campbell.
- He began playing football in fifth grade as a kicker and moved to linebacker and running back in sixth grade.
1977 - Campbell was a consensus All-America and the Heisman Trophy winner as running back for University of Texas.
1978 - Joined the Houston Oilers as the first player taken in the National Football League Draft.
- He was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player, All-Pro, and Rookie of the Year.
1979 - Earned the all pro, Pro Bowl, and NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors.
1980 - Married to Reuchalle Reuna Smith on May 30th and they had two sons.
- His finest year came when he rushed for 1,934 yards. He gained over 200 yards in four games.
1981 - He won his fourth straight AFC rushing title. A sensational runner, Campbell was picked for the Pro Bowl five of his first six NFL seasons.
1984 - He was played as running back for New Orleans Saints.
1985-1986 - He played a season and a half with the Saints before retiring after the campaign.
1991 - Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
