1932 - Herbert Leon "Sonny" Callahan was born on the 11th of September in Mobile, Alabama. American politician.
1950 - Graduated from McGill Institute High School, Mobile, Alabama.
1952-1954 - Served in the United States Navy.
1959 - Attended the University of Alabama, Mobile, Alabama.
1970 - Elected to the Alabama House of Representatives as a Democrat.
1978 - He was elected to the Alabama Senate.
1982 - He lost his bid to become Lieutenant Governor.
1985 - Elected to the House of Representatives from a Mobile-based district.
1994 - Became the chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations.
2001 - Chairman of the Energy and Water Development subcommittee.
2003 - Retired from the House and was succeeded by Jo Bonner.
