1933 - Lee Quincy Calhoun was born on the 23rd of February in Laurel, Mississippi. American athlete.

         - Calhoun graduated from Roosevelt High School where he was persuaded to become a high jumper.

1955 - Drafted into the Army and returned to North Carolina Central University where he set world bests in the 60-yard, 70-yard and 80-yard hurdles and eventually set records in the 45-yard, 50-yard, 60-yard and 70-yard hurdles.

1956 - Won the AAU championships in 110 m hurdles.

         - In the summer Olympic he won the gold medal in 100-meter hurdles.

1957 - Won the AAU championships 120 yd hurdles.

1958 - Calhoun was suspended for receiving gifts on "Bride and Groom," a television game show.

1960 - Won gold medal in Olympic 100-meter hurdles.

         - He set a world record of 13.2 seconds in a pre-Olympic meet in Bern, Switzerland.

1976 - He was an assistant Olympic coach at the Summer Olympics.

1989 - Lee Calhoun died on 22nd of June in Erie, Pennsylvania aged 56.
