1964 - He portrayed the role of upper class British army officer in the film 'Zulu".

1965 - He played the role as the spy in the movie "Harry Palmer",and in "The Ipcress File".

1966 - He starred as the woman-chasing "Alfie".

1972 - He starred in movie "Sleuth".

1986 - He won his first Academy Award for the film Hannah and Her Sisters.

1983 - He acted in the "Educating Rita".

1988 - He was one of the actors in the movie "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels".

1993 - He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

1994 - He starred in the movie "On Deadly Ground".

1999 - His second Academy Award for The Cider House Rules.

2000 - He was Knight Bachelor, becoming Sir Maurice Micklewhite.

2006 - He appeared in the films Children of Men and The Prestige.
