1920 - Joao Cabral de Melo Neto was born in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil on the 6th of January.
1942-1943 - He wrote "Pedra do Sono" and "Os Três Mal-Amados".
1945-1947 - He wrote "O Engenheiro", "Psicologia da Composicao com a Fábula de Anfion e Antiode".
1990 - He wrote the poet "Primeiros Poemas", "Sevilha Andando".
- He won the Camoens Prize, the greatest prize in literature of the Portuguese language.
1992 - Joao Cabral received the Neustadt International Prize for Literature.
- He is often quoted saying "I try not to perfume the flower".
1999 - He died on the 9th of October in Rio de Janeiro.
