1828 - Butlerov, Alexander Mikhailovich was born in Tschistopol near Kazan (Russia).
1857-1868 - Butlerov was professor in Kazan and St. Petersburg.
- He was one of the foremost theorists of structural chemistry which lead him to do research in isomers.
- He also studied polymerisation reactions and synthesised the first artificial sugar, a mixture of hexoses.
1886 - He died in Biarritz (France).
