killed Alexander Hamilton in a perfectly acceptable fashion of the times - a duel - 1804
harassed into exile by Jefferson partisans after duel and allegations that he was attempting to form Spanish and French "later Louisiana Purchase " territory into a separate country with Burr as its first ruler. The latter charge was never sufficiently proven and relied on testimony from a series of perjurers and fanatical Jefferson supporters.
