1949 - He graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati and later received a bachelor's degree in economics from Xavier University.

1955 - Jim Bunning's first game as a major league pitcher was on the 20th of July.

         - He was the pitcher for Detroit Tigers.

1964-1967 - He became pitcher for Philadelphia Phillies.

         - He was a pitched perfect game playing for Philadelphia Phillies against New York (1st perfect game by a National League pitcher).

1968 - He was a pitcher for Pittsburgh Pirates.

1969 - He was pitcher for Los Angeles Dodgers.

1970 - He was the 1st pitcher since Cy Young to have won 100 games in major leagues.

1979-1983 - He became a member of Kentucky senate.

1999 - He became Senator from Kentucky.

2006 - In April, he was selected by Time as one of "America's Five Worst Senators.

         - On the 6th of December, Bunning was one of only two senators (along with Rick Santorum), to vote against the confirmation of Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense.
