Buffon, Georges Louis Leclerc, Comte de

1707 - Born on September 7th in Montbard, Côte d'Or. French naturalist.

1734 - He entered the French Academy of Sciences.

1739 - He was a Keeper of the Jardin du Roi (later Jardin des Plantes) in Paris.

1773 - He was named as Comte (Count) de Buffon.

1783 - Became a fellow at the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

1788 - Died on April 16th in Paris.

         - He wrote Histoire Naturelle, Générale et Particulière and Les Époques de la Nature.

1853-1855 - Posthumously published Oeuvres Complètes de Buffon.
