Budge, John Donald(Don)
1915 - Born on June 13th in Oakland, California. American tennis player, whose all-around game made him the leading player in his sport.
1930 - He won his first California junior title.
1935 - Don Budge had begun to hit his full stride as a totally dominating tennis player.
1938 - Don Budge won the Australian championship, the French championship, Wimbledon, and the United States championship.
- The first amateur player to win the four major tennis events (Australia, France, Great Britain and United States) in a single year.
1939 - He turned into a professional tennis player, he proved to be almost unbeatable, taking various national titles and helping to secure several Davis Cups.
1940 - He won the U.S. professional title.
1941 - Married to Diadre Conselman on May 26th.
- Served in the US Army in World War II, after which he played exhibition matches around the world.
1964 - Inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
2000 - Died of cardiac arrest on January 26th in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
