1887 – Oliver Ellsworth Buckley was born in Sloan, Iowa on the 8th of August.
1909 – Buckley received his preliminary education at public schools and was graduated B.S. at Grinnell (Iowa) College.
1914 – He joined the Western Electric Co. as a research physicist.
1925 – Buckley served as assistant director of research.
1933 – He served as director of research.
1936 – He was executive vice-president.
1940 – He became president and a director of Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc.,
1952 – He became chairman of the board, the post he maintained until his retirement.
1955 – He continued as a director of the company.
1959 – He died in Newark, N.J. on the 14th of December.
