1887 - Oliver Ellsworth Buckley was born in Sloan, Iowa on the 8th of August.
1909 - Buckley received his preliminary education at public schools and was graduated B.S. at Grinnell (Iowa) College.
1914 - He joined the Western Electric Co. as a research physicist.
1925 - Buckley served as assistant director of research.
1933 - He served as director of research.
1936 - He was executive vice-president.
1940 - He became president and a director of Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc.,
1952 - He became chairman of the board, the post he maintained until his retirement.
1955 - He continued as a director of the company.
1959 - He died in Newark, N.J. on the 14th of December.
