1839 - Born on March 10th in Hartford, Connecticut. American composer and organist.

         - He worked in Hartford, Chicago, Boston and NewYork, chiefly as an organist and choirmaster.

1875 - Went to New York to assist Theodore Thomas as conductor of the orchestral concerts.

1877 - Was an organist at Holy Trinity church.

1879 - He wrote large-scale secular cantatas including The Centennial Meditation of Columbia, and significant organ works.

1909 - Died on October 6th in West Orange, New Jersey.
