1860 – He was born in Munich, on the 20th of May.

1884 – He began studies in chemistry with Adolf von Baeyer and in botany with Professor C. von Naegeli, at the Botanic Institute in Munich.

1888 – He was awarded a doctorate from the University of Munich.

1900 – Buchner married Lotte Stahl.

1907 – Buchner was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his biochemical investigations and his discovery of non-cellular fermentation.

         – Buchner served as a Major in a front-line field hospital at Foc_ani, Romania.

1917 – He was wounded on the 3rd of August and died of these wounds nine days later in Munich, aged 57.
