1911 - Born in Wetumpka, Elmore County, Alabama. American judge.
- Bryant became the first African American prosecutor permitted to try cases in Washington's federal courthouse, where he had been barred from using the law library because of his color.
1932-1936 - He graduated from Howard University, receiving an A.B. and from Howard University Law School, receiving an LL.B.
1943 - Judge Bryant served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
1951 - He was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
- Became the first black federal prosecutor in Washington.
1954 - Judge Bryant was engaged in private practice as a partner in the powerhouse black law firm of Houston, Bryant & Gardner.
1965 - Judge Bryant was appointed to the United States District Court in August.
1974 - He became the first judge to order President Nixon to turn over his audiotapes in connection with civil lawsuits.
1977 - He served as Chief Judge.
1982 - He assumed senior status, and heard cases until a few days before his death.
2005 - Died on November 19th at his home in the capital.
