1860 - Born on November 11th near Bloomington. American educator.
1884 - Bryan entered Indiana University and graduated with a bachelor's degree.
- Because of difficulties arising in connection with the resignation of President Moss and the appointment of President Jordan in December, Bryan found himself teaching Greek as well as English.
1885 - He was appointed assistant professor of philosophy and acting instructor of English.
1886 - He was associate professor of philosophy on leave of absence for study in Berlin.
1887 - The recommendation that Bryan be made professor of philosophy and instructor in elocution was approved.
1889 - He married Charlotte A. Lowe, he took her last name as his middle name and from that time he was known as William L. Bryan.
- Bryan had been christened William J. Bryan and lived more than the first twenty-eight years of his life under that name.
1892 - Bryan earned his Ph.D. from Clark University.
1893 - Bryan was elected vice-president.
1902-1937 - He succeeded Dr. Swain as president, and at which time he retired as president emeritus.
1955 - William Lowe Bryan died.
