1899 - Born on December 23rd in Winterthur, Switzerland. Swiss theologian in the Reformed tradition who helped direct the course of modern Protestant theology.

1916 - Ordained in the Swiss Reformed Church, Brunner served as a pastor at Obstalden, Switzerland.

1924 - He became professor of systematic and practical theology at the University of Zürich.

1932 - He wrote God and Man and The Divine Imperative.

1966 - Died of stroke on April 6th.
