1827 - Browne was born in Dublin, County Mayo, Ireland, on the 7th of July.

         - He later emigrated to the southern United States.

         - He served as Acting Confederate Secretary of State and as aide-de-camp to President Jefferson Davis.

1864 - He was promoted to brigadier general in November.

         - Browne was an attorney and was a professor of History and Constitutional Law at the University of Georgia.

1883 - He died on the 28th of April in Athens, Georgia and was buried in its Oconee Hill Cemetery.
