1943 - Brown was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the 4th of October.

1967-1968 - He became chairman of Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.

1969 - He changed name to Student National Coordinating Committee.

1970 - He disappeared to avoid standing trial for allegedly inciting riot in Cambridge, Maryland.

1972 - He was arrested for saloon holdup in New York City.

         - He was in prison, converted to Islam and changed name to Jamil Abdullah al-Amin.

2000 - He was arrested for murder of one Fulton County sheriff's deputy and attempted murder of another, then convicted on thirteen counts and sentenced to life in prison.

2007 - In August, he was transferred from state custody to Federal custody as Georgia officials decided that al-Amin is too high-profile an inmate for the Georgia prison system to handle. He was moved to a Federal transfer facility in Oklahoma pending assignment to a Federal penitentuary.
