Brown, Wesley Anthony (Wesley)
1927 - Wesley Anthony Brown was born in Maryland on the 3rd April.
1944 - He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and served in the US Navy.
1945 - He attended Dunbar High School in the District of Columbia, and was appointed to the Naval Academy as a Midshipman.
1949 - He graduated as a member of the Class, the first African-American to complete a Naval Academy education.
1969 - Wesley A. Brown then entered the Civil Engineering Corps, rising to Lieutenant Commander before he retired from the Navy in July.
- He served as chairman of DC's Congressional Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton’s Service Academy Selection Board.
- Brown is a volunteer motivational speaker and particularly enjoys talking with DC high school students and midshipmen of the USNA Black Studies Club during Black History Month.
