1912 – Brown, Dillard Houston was born in Georgia in 1912. He was a Episcopal clergyman educated at the University of Southern California. In 1961 he was consecrated as the Suffragan Episcopal Bishop of Liberia. 1969 – Brown Dillard Houston was murdered in his church office in Liberia.
Prior to his appointment as Bishop of Liberia, Bishop Dillard H. Brown was Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church – the historic African American church founded by Dr. Alexander Crummell in Washington, DC. Bishop Brown was a graduate of General Theological Seminary in New York. Following his graduation, he served as priest at Rikers Prison in New York and Church of the Incarnation in Jersey City, New Jersey.
He is the father of Virginia Brown-Nolan and the husband of Sarah Brown.
