1925 - Born on March 21st in Chiswick, West London. British theater and film director.

1951 - Married to Natasha Perry.

1959-1961 - He was also Tony-nominated two other times: as Best Director for 'Friedrich Durrenmatt' 's "The Visit", and as Best Director (Musical) for "Irma la Douce".

1962 - He was appointed Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, a position he held for 2 decades.

1970 - He has directed many Shakespeare productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company, including Love's Labour's Lost, Measure for Measure, Titus Andronicus, King Lear and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

1971 - Brook founded the International Centre for Theatre Research (C.I.R.T), which in turn became the International Center for Theatre Creations (C.I.C.T) when he opened its permanent base - the Bouffes du Nord Theatre.

         - Won Broadway's Tony Award twice as Best Director (Dramatic): for "Marat/Sade" and for Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

1988 - He was awarded the London Critics Circle Theatre Award (Drama Theatre Award) for Best Director for The Mahabharata.

1993 - His films include Lord of the Flies, Marat/Sade, King Lear, Moderato Cantabile, The Mahabharata and Meetings with Remarkable Men.

1994 - He was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award: The Times Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre.

1995 - Appointed an Officer of the Legion of Honour.

1998 - Brook's autobiography, 'Threads of Time', was published.
