1865 - Marion L. Brittain was born in Wilkes County, Georgia on the 11th of November.
1888 - He attended Emory College for his undergraduate studies, graduating with the commendation that he was the "best student in his department the college had had in ten years.
1899 - On the 5th of December, Brittain and Lettie McDonald, daughter of Baptist minister Dr. Henry McDonald, were married.
1900 - He returned to academic administration, first as superintendent of the Fulton County School System.
1906 - He was also president of the Georgia Education Association.
1913 - He was President of the Southern Education Association.
1917 - The Council of State School Superintendents of the United States.
1944 - Brittain retired from his position as president of Georgia Tech.
1948 - He penned a history of the Institute entitled The Story of Georgia Tech.
1953 - He died on the 13th of July.
