1920 - Harvey Bright was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 6th. American oli businessman and football executive.

1943 - Entered Texas A&M University and received a degree in petroleum engineering.

         - He then joined the Army Corps of Engineers.

         - He used the $6,500 he has saved from his Army pay and began trading oil leases with his college roommate. The two men eventually started Bright & Co., an exploration and production company.

1950 - Bright had became a millionaire. He used his wealth to invest in real estate, trucking and financial services, eventually owning more than 120 companies.

1982 - Bright was chairman of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.

1984 - Bright purchased the Dallas Cowboys from Clint Murchison.

1989 - Bright sold the Dallas Cowboys to Jerry Jones.

1996 - Bright made an unrestricted endowment of $25 million to Texas A&M University.

2000 - Bright donated another $5 million toward a $30 million athletic complex south of Kyle Field. The building was named for Bright, whose donation was the largest.

2002 - A&M named Bright the recipient of its Sterling Evans Medal, an honor bestowed on those who demonstrate a record of supporting philanthropy at A&M.

2004 - Harvey Bright died at his Highland Park home on the 11th of December.
