1943-1946 - All Star pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals who played, who is one of only 11 pitchers in history to win 3 games in a World Series, accomplishing the feat in the series against the Boston Red Sox.

         - The left-hander to pitch in three winning games in one World Series.

1948 - His best season came when he went 20-7 and led the National League with a 2.24 ERA.

1953 - Pitched his final game on September 13th for the St. Louis Browns.

2004 - Died on January 14th in Bethany, Oklahoma.
