Brattain, Walter Houser (Walter)
1902 - He was born in Amoy, China on the 10th of February.
1924-1926 - Brattain earned that degree and an M.A. degree from the University of Oregon.
1929 - He then moved eastward, taking his Ph.D. degree in physics at the University of Minnesota.
- He worked at the National Bureau of Standards in Washington, D.C., and was hired by Bell Telephone Laboratories.
1946 - He initiated a general investigation of semiconductors that was intended to produce a practical solid state amplifier.
1956 - He won Nobel Prize in Physics for their invention.
1987 - He died on the 13th of October.
